I am very proud of my promotions team.  We were just received 2 OAB Outstanding Achievement Awards (there are only 4 categories for promotions).  The spot here is part of the campaign that won General News Image.

We've Got Your Back:  "BE HONEST"

Let's face it, there's a lot of fluff out there in local news promotions.  Too many spots are fancy job descriptions. 
 
So I wanted to cut through the clutter with an honest spot and make us stand out in a market that is full of: "Watch us do what you expect us to do."
​
We got our anchors out of the studio and into a space with Oklahoma character.  Then we pulled back the curtain on the competitive promo rhetoric. 
​
We have shown great year to year growth and strength and these spots are meant to show why we are different and why viewers are changing the channel.
​
We also did a version with the same kind of honesty about news and mobile devices.

Good Day OK:  "WHAT'S A POP?"

Our morning show, Good Day OK, tied number one in May, coming up from a 4th place spot just one year ago. 
 
There's been a lot of change and we ran a #1 spot to pound our chest, but I also wanted to show of a simple recipe of success with the help of some incredible personalities.

Living Oklahoma:  "JUST HAVING FUN"

Living Oklahoma is our pay-to-play lifestyle show.  It's one of a kind in our market. It's quirky, fun, and has great personalities.  This was a pet project of mine and I wanted to have some fun with a creative shoot... so I shot and edited this spot with some production help from my Senior Producer.  This is a compliment spot to a more traditional campaign of spots that airs along with it.

Capitalize on Digital Boards:  "SEVERE WEATHER EXPECTED"

During sweeps, I use digital billboards to topically promote FOX programming and our sweeps stories.  But in Oklahoma, weather is paramount.  So when our meteorologists call for life-threatening storms, we alert people. 
 
We switch all of our digital boards to this content.  Above are what we did last year and to the right is what we have waiting this year for when the storms hit.
It's another way to live up to our brand.

Underdog Mentality:  "BREAKING NEWS"

Don't let the competition catch their breath.  When you're the underdog you need to keep up the guerrilla warfare.

Take every win, every forceful move and showcase it!
​
These spots were put together by myself and my team to show just how strong our station is and to slowly change audience perception.  This combined with a good media mix can do wonders for station image.
